Sure, it might be a little hard to make a living as a business process manager. But since most people that work on a business process are hired as a consultant theyre very willing to take on the job of the business process manager, so there arent many barriers to entry.

As a business process manager youll have to put in a lot of hours working on projects and managing a team, so youll need to make a good salary. But because consultants are not as motivated as business process managers, it is almost impossible to get a good job as a business process manager. And even though consultants are not as motivated as business process managers, there are plenty of opportunities as a business process manager if you’re good with people, networking, and being a team player.

In other words, the scope of your work will be much larger, and youll have a lot more flexibility in how you work.

Business process managers are a pretty wide spectrum. They tend to be senior managers with lots of experience working in large companies. They get paid more than consultants, but are less likely to get the big bonuses. Consulting will be a more general and less lucrative career path.
