Carjacking is a serious crime which can lead to unfortunate consequences. In the past, carjackers have relied on many different strategies–from running up to your vehicle and grabbing you out of it, to using a fake police officer’s badge in order to get inside. However, there is now an easier way for criminals: paper on the back window! If you find any suspicious paper on your back window when you go outside or enter your car, run as fast as possible in the other direction! A new strategy for this crime is to place a piece of paper with writing on it (most likely instructions) either between the windshield and front passenger seat or on the rear driver side window. This will act like bait; once they see that someone has seen their note, they’ll know that they have an opportunity at getting inside easily without much resistance. The best thing to do if you see any kind of paper near your vehicle is not to touch it–just get away from there ASAP!
